Two
beasts face each other.
Both are right.
The world remains cold.
The tiger
defends the dark.
The lion defends the light.
The wind goes unheard.
Words
snarl.
Teeth are bared.
No warmth is born from truth.
Here power
is discourse.
Here being right does not save.
Here cold passes through the bones.
Be
silent.
Stop winning.
Listen to what does not speak.
17. MĀLUTA-JĀTAKA Station III The Noise of Reasons
Tiger and Lion: the dispute that gives no warmth
MĀLUTA-JĀTAKA – When being right prepares the fall of Babylon
In Station
III, the path of awakening enters a frozen zone: the noise of reasons.
Here power does not rule by force, but by discourse. It does not persecute—it
persuades.
The 17th
MĀLUTA-JĀTAKA stages an ancient and recurring dispute.
A tiger and a lion argue about when cold appears: in the dark half or the light
half of the month.
Both are right.
Yet the world remains cold.
The image captures the conflict at its peak of clarity: two symmetrical truths, two tense bodies, no way forward. The sky is sealed, time suspended. The wind blows, unheard.
Here Revelation 18 becomes dominant. Babylon does not fall because it is disproved, but because it overfills reality with explanations. The market of reasons thrives while life freezes.
The lesson
is stark and decisive:
being right does not save.
Positive theology argues; negative theology falls silent.
Only silence interrupts the rule of discourse.
Station III
asks not for a better answer, but for renunciation:
stop winning,
be silent,
listen to the wind.
